Idealism

As you grow older, you realize that being idealistic is not about defending everything that you perceive as the real values (and thus the truth). Being idealistic is understanding the very essence of those values, then improvising on methods that work with current real condition. You no longer pointlessly argue that your method are the best forever, while in reality it has become legacy. You no longer close your eyes and cover your ears to reject any changes. You do know that the world is dynamic. Everything will change even if you don’t like it. The faster ones will leave the slower behind. It’s not about what was on top, but what will conquer the top on tomorrow.

Your idealism will remain as your goal. There are many paths open to reach it. All paths possess their own challenges. Sometimes (and probably most of the time) the challenge that you face is unbreakable. You try everything but nothing works. The path is just not for you. You should find another path that is passable. It’s not easy to find the correct path, but you are convinced that there is possible path for you to reach your goal. You keep walking, learning, solving the problems, and eventually meet your dream. That’s how idealism should work.

After that, you realize that success is not forever. New challenges and enemies will hunt you to take you down. Sooner or later, you will be forced to let your goal go. Is this the end? No, you will see new goal, and repeat the whole process. Finally, you understand that it’s not idealism who builds you. It’s you who build the idealism.
